The Red Star is one of the oldest clubs in French football, founded in 1897 by Jules Rimet, who was its first president until 1909. The Red Star is one of the oldest clubs in French football, founded in 1897 by Jules Rimet, who was its first president until 1909. From its foundation, the Red Star was a club carrying strong social values, tradition which he has kept until today and which makes it his trademark. In 2022, the club therefore celebrated its 125th anniversary of ups and downs. If the club was a major player in French football during the interwar period, winning 4 French Cups in the process - including 3 consecutive ones from 1921 to 1923, a first in the history of French football -, it was also marked periods of decline and lean cows from which he nevertheless always knew how to recover.
This exhibition therefore tends to trace this extraordinary journey made of as many triumphs as failures, and marked by great figures of football, French and foreign. But it is also part of a story that is written in the future, with the current renovation of the Bauer stadium and the prospect of the JOP 2024.
Produced in partnership with Plaine Commune, the city of Saint-Ouen, the Plaine Commune Grand Paris Tourist Office and Red Star FC, this exhibition was designed as part of the implementation of the "Pays d'art et d'histoire" label. from Plaine Commune. As such, it benefits from financial support from the Regional Department of Cultural Affairs of Ile-de-France.
