"When we did the" Controlled Origins "project, it wasn't about making an encyclopedia of Algerian music, we just wanted to cover our father's favorite songs," Mouss confesses over the phone. After immense success within Zebda ("Falling the shirt", "I believe that it will not be possible" ...), then with the Motifs (their triumphant cover of "Chant des partisans"), the two brothers Amokrane therefore embarked on an a priori very little commercial adventure: reinterpreting the songs that accompanied Algerian immigration. Their energy is such, their desire for sharing so communicative, that the tour that followed despite everything had an unusual impact, opening the doors of large rooms to them. Paradoxically, something was missing in the midst of these jubilant crowds: privacy. By reducing the number of musicians for this semi-acoustic version, by choosing spaces on a more human scale, they get closer to their audience and, at the same time, to their source of inspiration. Collective identity is sometimes built in the stadiums, it is true, but it is always in the small municipal halls that it connects most warmly, most durably to each other.

As part of the Festival of World Music Cities. This concert is part of an afternoon of screenings & debate at Le Studio cinema.
