  • Born in Morocco, in a family of musicians, Saïd Mesnaoui evolves, from childhood, in the respect of the tradition. He learns percussion, then studies with a Gnawa master the hajhouj, a typical instrument of the music of southern Morocco.

    During the 1980s, with the group Jil El Ghiwane, Saïd made Moroccan culture live and known in North Africa and the Middle East. He then moved to Canada where his music became impregnated with the colors of jazz.

    In 1998, he moved to Paris. With his new group, Transe Gnawa Fusion, composed of French musicians, he mixes Moroccan rhythms (Ghiwane, Sahraoui, Berber and Gnawa), with rock, reggae, blues, jazz, and trance hypnosis.
