Can contemporary dance be interested only in its references of excellence? Ignore all those other dances, which abound in popular culture? A graduate of P.A.R.T.S., a highly specialized school founded by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Ula Sickle is one of the choreographers who resolutely turn to these other dances, explore them on the huge stage that the Internet has become, far from the theater sets.

This intimate atmosphere was nourished by Sad Rap, whose sometimes very young artists cultivate a melancholy atmosphere, devoid of belief in a future. In terms of gestures, Ula Sickle is touched by Lyric Dance, another youthful movement, which endeavors to translate very directly into body the meanings perceived when listening to music and words appreciated. The choreographer claims it: without appropriating them, by approaching them with her own tools and analyzes, by reinventing on stage, she wants to make vibrate expressions charged with a very shared emotion.

Its own sadness affects a state of the world now worried about its very chances of survival. To reconstitute new powers, we should not be afraid to dig deep into our sensations experienced at the most dense.

Creation of Ula Sickle in English without surtitles.
As part of the Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis.
