Gaëlle Bourges' pieces are journeys through time that interweave gray areas of art history with intimate and biographical stories. With Juste Camille, the choreographer takes as a starting point a wedding chest, made in Florence around 1460-1470, one of the painted panels of which represents The Story of Camille, a character found in the Aeneid, by Virgil. Often described as an Amazon with a virile upbringing, Camille has rejected her future as a wife and does not aspire to any romantic feelings, at least not towards the male gender. Intrigued by this non-conformist figure, Gaëlle Bourges invited student artists from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette to reinvest, in their own way, the function of wedding chests, which illustrated stories at the time which end quite badly for women.
