Festival Hors limites - In search of oneself

When Maria Larrea unravels the childhoods of her parents, both of whom were abandoned as babies in Spain, she begins to wonder about her own origins. Through a series of scenes from her childhood and youth, the narrator paints a portrait of a past that was both turbulent and happy, of a little girl who was loved and adored, despite poverty and her sometimes violent father.

When she is older, she discovers a vocation: cinema, falls in love, and sets up her own home, until the day when a revelation about her past turns everything upside down.
Her first novel, Les gens de Bilbao naissent où ils veulent (People of Bilbao are born where they want), won the first novel prize in 2022 and the Les Inrockuptibles prize for first novel.
