  • Stogie T
"Politics can be strengthened by music, but music has a power that defies politics": these few words from Nelson Mandela seem to be the mantra of Tumi Molekane aka Stogie T who, since his beginnings in Soweto, has been denouncing inequalities with ultra-conscious rap. Son of anti-apartheid activists, Stogie T is an undisputed legend of South African hip-hop whose international stature is measured by the great class of his collaborations: Saul Williams, Danyèl Waro, Chinese Man,...

"Politics can be strengthened by music, but music has a power that defies politics": these few words from Nelson Mandela seem to be the mantra of Tumi Molekane aka Stogie T who, since his beginnings in Soweto, has been denouncing inequalities with ultra-conscious rap. Son of anti-apartheid activists, Stogie T is an undisputed legend of South African hip-hop whose international stature is measured by the great class of his collaborations: Saul Williams, Danyèl Waro, Chinese Man, Styles P, Gaël Faye and M.anifest. Voice of the black youth of the rainbow nation and the African continent, of its hopes, of its struggles, the emcee distributes punchlines and uppercuts against the excesses of easy cash, the violence of power relations or leaders who use power to serve their own interests. After hitting Banlieues Bleues with the French premiere of Tumi And The Volume in 2007, Stogie T is back. Expect a hip-hop storm of elegance, force 10!

    Moonchild Sanelly
With her blue Medusa-style braids, her inimitable looks and her vibrant presence, Moonchild Sanelly has made it her mission to rule the world. Rapper, dancer, fashion designer, body positive activist, the South African is the self-proclaimed queen of "future ghetto punk", her signature, a mix of gqom, amapiano, kwaito, pop, jazz, dancehall and afro-punk. Since her debut in 2015 with Rabulapha!, Moonchild Sanelly has left her mark on the South African musical landscape while attracting the wrath of the most conservative. No matter: the visionary quickly takes off internationally and collaborates with Tierra Wack, Beyoncé, Diplo, Wizkid, Gorillaz and Major Lazer. After Phases in 2022, she celebrates her ten-year career this year with Full Moon, her most personal album. In Xhosa as in English, the South African star looks back on her childhood in Port Elizabeth in her mother's jazz club, her beginnings in Durban and then in Johannesburg. Radiating from her host land of London, the world in her hand, she promises Banlieues Bleues a live performance in her image: feverish and uncompromising.

Intimately linked to the Ugandan collective Nyege Nyege, PÖ allows herself everything and above all to be herself. First on the decks, telescoping kuduro kicks, footwork and bouyon frenzy in incendiary sets with an underground spirit that have earned her invitations to perform at the biggest European festivals. In Cociage – pronounced “coquillage” – her first 100% DIY album published on the ultra-experimental label Hakuna Kulala, she deploys a psychedelic universe from her voice, a raw material crushed to the extreme that gives body to apocalyptic-poetic soundscapes mixing ambient, post-punk and West African folk, put to the service of cryptic litanies that pinpoint the environmental ravages of capitalism as well as the disasters of patriarchal domination. Producer, singer, and outstanding improviser, PÖ gives an additional dimension to her repertoire live, by transforming herself into a real creature, half-gorgon, half-alien. A breathtaking performance!
