Exhibition - Militant figures in popular sport

  • Just a few months before the opening of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the exhibition showcases some thirty sports activists from the labour and social movements who contributed to the democratisation of sport in the 20th century.

  • This exhibition is produced by the Campus Condorcet and designed by the Centre d'histoire sociale des mondes contemporains (CHS, CNRS - Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) and the Humathèque teams, and illustrated by the artist Fred Sochard, in partnership with the CNRS, the Département de la Seine-Saint-Denis and Paris 2024 and with the support of Plaine Commune. The exhibition has been awarded the "Cultural Olympiad" label.

    Throughout the exhibition, popular sport will be the theme of a series of conferences, combining the views of researchers with those of witnesses and activists, and open to all. You'll also be able to watch films presented by Ciné-Archives.
