  • Dressed in an original Moriarty soundtrack, this photo exhibition features a joyful half century of music in Paris and its suburbs, under Robert Doisneau’s humanist gaze.

In ethnographer of his time, Robert Doisneau had the curiosity to go everywhere. Provided with inseparable sound camera, he crossed Paris and his suburb in all directions. Local dances in brass bands, via cabarets, he met musicians of jazz and stars of his time. Man of show, for whom the image must be staged, he always answered with happiness the orders of newspapers to immortalize Georges Brassens, Juliette Gréco, Charles Aznavour, Claude François … and, of course, his friend cellist Maurice Baquet.

"When our roads crossed, I had found my professor of happiness."

Far from nostalgia, the exhibition reveals another facet of the photographer, which is more unexpected, a man who was determined to look to the future, happy to immortalize a new generation of musicians in the 1980s, such as Rita Mitsouko or Les négresses verte.
