Dance - Lora + Hairy

Lora Juodkaite, a Lithuanian top dancer, has developed her own personal practice of gyration. She spins madly around herself, chiselling out spellbinding variations that make our centres of gravity wobble. A fascinating spiral.

How do you control the uncontrollable? That's the starting point for Hairy, a choreography for four dancers and their hair... one of the few parts of the body that you can't move voluntarily... a challenge for the dancers who control their every move!

Wearing black vinyl overalls, the dancers throw themselves into a heady repetitive dance with total physical commitment, to the sound of a metronomic beat or the strings of Johann Sebastian Bach. And it is this momentum of the bodies that transmits the movement to the long, sensual, rebellious hair, symbols of freedom par excellence, that stand out against the black background and dance.

Dovydas Strimaitis, a young choreographer who originally trained in Vilnius, offers an enchanting experience, between letting go and control, a hypnotic visual spectacle.
