Skein Relations is a choreographic installation project by Taiwanese choreographer and 2018 NTCH resident artist I-Fang Lin. Lin drew from her personal observations of the response to major events such as the 9/21 Earthquake in Taiwan and terrorist attacks in France to inform her work. Lin’s choreography explores the process of emotional contagion. In their interactions, dancers articulate the intricate flow of the individual psyche and interpersonal relationships, which Lin sees as a “skein” (a knot), which the dancers, and by extension all people, are caught within.
